New Year's Hot Dance Planned

The Crow Fair Board is hosting a New Year’s Hot Dance at the multi-purpose building in Crow Agency on Dec. 31.
The Crow Fair Board will serve a meal at 6 p.m. before the powwow's grand entry at 7 p.m.
All drum groups and districts, as well as state champions from all area schools are invited.
The Story of the Daytime Dance as listed on Little Big Horn College website says when the traditional dance was brought to the Crow by the Hidatsa they were taught of the spiritual nature of what the bustle or Tail Feathers and the dance.
According to the Story of the Daytime Dance, "The Crow call this dance the Hot Dance, because when they received the dance, they were instructed not to eat as poor people. That is, to eat well, to eat fresh hot meat. The Crow therefore called it Baatawéelissuua / the Hot Dance."
