Cultural Enrichment Lecture Series: The 1904 Cession Of Crow Tribal Lands

This week's lecture features LBHC Archivist Jon Ille

Little Big Horn College Archivist Jon Ille will present on the last great land grab/cession of Crow tribal lands to the United States at noon on Thursday, March 3 in person in the LBHC library conference room, on Zoom and Facebook.

In 1904, 1.1 million acres, or about one-third, of Crow tribal land was ceded to the United States government. The land today is known as the Ceded Strip. Ille has been the LBHC Archivist since 2010 and has researched and written on the political economy of Crow Country. Ille is a history PhD candidate at the University of California-Riverside. He will include the backstory of this cession and the players involved.
