Lodge Grass teacher, coach arrested for alleged alcohol use on job

Patricia Real Bird-Rogers also dismissed as girls varsity basketball coach.

LODGE GRASS — Q2 News reported Thursday Patricia Real Bird-Rogers, PE teacher and girls basketball coach in the Lodge Grass school district, was arrested Wednesday amid allegations of drinking alcohol while on the job, according to Big Horn County school officials.

Real Bird could face charges of child endangerment. The BIA is investigating, but it was unclear Thursday if charges had been filed.

Real Bird was in custody Thursday at Rocky Mountain Detention Facility in Hardin.

Q2 reported the Montana Office of Public Instruction had no record of education license for Real Bird Rogers. She did have a Class 7 education license listed under her married name "Patricia Rogers," which expired in June.

Real Bird recently took over as the girls varsity coach after starring as a player for Lodge Grass in the early 1990s.
