Reno DIstrict Representative Yvon Little Light Jr. was arrested for DUI and possession of intoxicants early Saturday morning near his home on Hospital Loop and Medicine Tail Road, in Crow Agency.
He pleaded not guilty to the charges in Crow Tribal Court Monday afternoon.
According to the criminal complaint, Little Light was found in the driver’s seat of the vehicle, with keys in the ignition. Inside of the car with Little Light were multiple open and unopened alcoholic beverages strewn across the floor of the driver’s side and the center console.
The complaint continued, Little Light showed clear signs of inebriation, including slurred speech, bloodshot eyes, and a very strong smell of alcohol coming from his person. Little Light refused to do any of the sobriety tests, including the breathalyzer, and was then placed under arrest and sent to Rocky Mountain Regional Detention Facility.
Little Light requested a bench trial, which has been tentatively scheduled for Jan. 4, 2023.
Little Light is serving his first term as senator and representing the Center Lodge/Reno district.
